What is the difference between Java edition servers and cross-play servers?

Unlike traditional java edition servers that can only be played on a Windows, Mac or Linux PC, cross play servers can be joined by bedrock edition users as well, using multiple devices such as a Nintendo Switch, an xBox or PlayStation console, Mobile devices and a myriad of other platforms.

Can Minecraft Java edition and Minecraft bedrock edition users play together?

Absolutely! Nomad By using a true cross platform Minecraft server, like the ones above, Minecraft Java players and Minecraft bedrock players can connect to the same world and game together - In most cases you won't even have to run the same version, as most servers use the ViaVersion plugin. You will need a unique IP address for each client to join the server. However, both are available in the server pages.

I use a Nintendo switch. Can I join the Minecraft World with my xBox friends? Nomad

Yes! You won't even require a Cross-Play Server to do this, since all game consoles use the same game platform, Minecraft Bedrock Edition. You can invite your friends to play on any Bedrock server.

Can Minecraft Realms be Cross-Platform?

Unfortunately, No. A Realm is an Mojang-hosted, small server that can only been joined by a few close friends via an invite code on Minecraft Bedrock Edition. Realms can only be joined by friends using an invite code on Minecraft Bedrock Edition.
