Teenager Arrested Over Mass College Bomb Hoax

After a huge bomb hoax shut down hundreds of colleges and schools across the UK, the teen believed to be in the middle of an Minecraft gamers' feud was detained.



Hertfordshire police arrested the 19-year old after 24,000 threats to schools were warned of a bomb attack and soliciting money.



The emails were faked to make it appear as if the emails had been sent by a gaming platform called VeltPvP. VeltPvP is a Minecraft player-versus player server, of the type that businesses use to sell products to gamers.

The 19-year-old was detained by Hertfordshire police after 24,000 emails were sent out to schools warning them of an imminent attack



The emails were aimed at cause the domain to be banned for abuse - and they are believed to be from an organization that wanted to discredit VeltPvP.



The National Crime Agency (NCA) stated that there was no credible threat to the emails' received this week.

They stated that they understood the concerns of teachers and parents however, they stressed that there was not a credible threat from the emails that were sent to schools.



"However we take the communications extremely seriously. As this is a live investigation, we are unable to comment further.'



Signs were put up in front of Cardinal Road School in Feltham following the bomb hoax emails



People involved in the squabble claimed that the rivals were involved in illegal activities in order to hinder each other's business.



It's horrible, it's not the nicest thing', one of the hoaxers who were involved in the scam said when asked whether he regretted the effect the letters had had on school pupils who were forced to leave.



Placing the blame on VeltPvP the hoaxer claimed that the network was involved in a campaign of Direct Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks - which he alleges were used to attempt to block other rival Minecraft servers.



Parents were urged to pick up their children following the threat of a bomb hoax email



In a statement, VeltPvP said: 'We've been harassed by a group of cybercriminals that are trying to smear us in any way that they can.



"We are extremely sorry for anyone who was affected by this, but we just want to let you know that this is not real."



The email was sent to more than 400 schools and colleges across the country. It claimed that an explosive had been planted and would explode if the money was not provided.



Cardinal Road School in Feltham, west London was one of the schools that were targeted by the fake email



Police forces from London, Bristol, Liverpool and Bedfordshire were among those who were questioned.



Parents at some schools requested to be able to pick their children up in the wake of concerns about the emails.



Six schools in Hertfordshire were also affected: Abbots Hill, Valley School, Stevenage, The Sele School, Duncombe School, Stanborough School, Watford, St Albans High School, and Valley School. MC TITAN LAUNCHER
